Are you looking to come up with some fresh ideas to practice basic literacy/numeracy skills in your classroom, or to use for some easy sub plans? Do you have students who are fast finishers, or who could benefit from some extra practice with basic concepts? I'll provide a brief overview of how I've run some learning center rotations in my kindergarden/grade one classroom over the years, and provide some easy to implement, concrete activities and simple games that can be used and adapted to fit a variety of learners of all ages. Handouts/digital copies of activities will be provided, using a variety of simple manipulatives and loose parts that can be easily found in any classroom, as well as some resources that might be found for you to access within your own school's Learning Commons. My intent is for attendees to walk away with some practical, engaging ideas to use in their classroom tomorrow and at any point throughout the year to support literacy and numeracy learning, as well as many other cross-curricular concepts. Time will be given to explore some of the games/activities demonstrated as well as for attendees to share any ideas/activities they might wish to contribute.
